What a linear foot of roof line means
A linear foot is one foot of length along the edge you want lit: the eaves, the gables, and the peaks. It is measured along the line the lights will follow, not across the area of the roof.
A long single-story ranch and a two-story house with several gables can come out very differently, even on the same street. That is why every home is measured instead of priced by house size.
A worked example: 200 feet of roof line at $4.25 per linear foot is $850, including take-down and storage. There is no separate take-down or storage charge.

Who owns the lights
You buy and own the lights. Hydra Total Care installs them on your roof line and keeps them shining through the season.
After the holidays, Hydra Total Care takes them down between January 15 and February 15 and stores them until the next season, so there are no boxes of tangled strands in your garage. The take-down and storage are included in the $4.25 per linear foot price.
